The Volkswagen Station Wagon, or 'bus' as it came to be known, first appeared on American shores in 1950. They had a split-window front screen and many side windows and would quickly gain a following of the flower-power culture and surfers. The most desirable derivative of Volkswagen's station wagon is the 23-Window De Luxe variant, which has eight additional skylight windows and a sunroof. This gave the occupants a virtually unhindered 360-degree visibility.
This '23-Window' De Luxe Station Wagon was sold new in California where it has spent the majority of its life. Recently, it has been fully restored in two-tone Sealing Wax Red and white. It has walk-through front seats, rather than the standard bench seat.
