    1970 Mongoose Indycar Navigation
This Indy race car was driven by Lloyd Ruby in the 1970 Indianapolis 500 for car owner Gene White Firestone. The car started in the 25th position on the inside of row 9 and worked its way through the field until it was leading the race on lap 48. Gearbox failure caused the car to go out on lap 54. This Indy car was called the Mongoose and is powered by a 159 cubic-inch supercharged, double overhead Cam Offenhouser, four-cylinder engine.

The current owner has faithfully restored this example of the roadster era, with very few of these Indianapolis 500 race cars in private hands. The 2007 Ault Park Concours d'Elegance in Cincinnati, Ohio, was the debut show for this Indy race car, having just completed a five-year restoration.
