This BMW CLS is one of 5 IMSA spec racers built by BMW Motorsports. In 1975, it was campaigned with drivers including Stuck, Posey, Quester and Redman among others. By the end of that season, it was probably the most developed CSL.
For 1976, this and a sister car, were sold to Peter Gregg. Peter Gregg, Brian Redman and John Fitpatrick won the 24 Hours of Daytona in this vehicle. It wore number 59 for that race and that season.
It was purchased and successfully raced by Kenper Miller and Dave Cowart for several more seasons. In the 1980s, it was restored to the #59 livery by Jack Deren of Carbondale, PA.
