Virgil Exner's first assignment as Chrysler Corporation's chief designer was an entirely new line of 1955 cars. With jet-inspired styling dubbed 'The 100 Million Dollar Look,' the long and low 1955 Chrysler was an eye-popping departure from its conservative predecessor. Three series were offered: the popular Windsor, the prestigious New Yorker, and the limited-edition 300 performance model.
This vehicle sold new in California where it remained with the original owner. The current owner purchased the car in 2011 and began an extensive restoration in its original color.
The car is powered by a 331 cubic-inch Hemi V8 engine offering 250 horsepower and coupled to a Powerflite automatic transmission. This car is fitted with power steering, brakes, windows and seats. The full leather interior two-tone was an option.
The New Yorker Deluxe convertible is one of only 946 built.
