The AC Ace with the Bristol engine was a very competitive vehicle in its own right, winning races in SCCA competition and the Le Mans 2-Liter class.
This example has a history that dates back to the mid-1970s when it was discovered in Bob Grossman's dealership near New York City. At the time, it was sitting comfortably under a tarp and not officially for sale. The car had been discovered by Roger Neuman and spirited negations soon began. After some time, Neuman convinced him to sell the car and brought it back with him to Pennsylvania. The car was found to be in very good condition, with a solid body and floor pans. Over the next decade, Neuman would seldom drive the car. In the mid-1980s, he decided to sell.
Bruce Robertson purchased the car and brought it back to his home in Illinois. Over the term of his ownership, he fitted the car with its Bristol engine.
