1960 BMW 700 Coupe

This BMW 700S was one of the first examples imported into the United States by the factory in 1961 and was used exclusively as a race car. The car was given to Elsco Corp. of Jacksonville, Florida (later bought out by Brumos). Drivers to pilot this car included Charlie Kolb and others throughout the southeast in SCCA races, running in the 'D' Sedan class. In the mid-1960's the SCCA increased the engine capacity for D sedans to 1 liter and this car was retired.

This car sat in a barn until 1984 when the original race mechanic for the car found it and restored it. The car is currently fitted with one of 14 Willie Martini motors known to have survived. The engine displaces 692cc's and produces 60 horsepower.
