1937 SS Cars 100 SS Navigation
After 1936, all models built by William Lyons' SS Cars Company were more commonly referred to as Jaguars. This 2.5-liter SS100 was ordered in 1937 with the standard body designed by Lyons himself. The first owner was Bob Truett, a successful amateur racing driver from London. He raced the SS100 at Donington and Brooklands. He modified and lightened the car extensively fitting mudguards and a single aero-screen. He entered the car in the Stanley Cup at Crystal Palace where it outshone almost all the opposition. After the war Truett sold the car to Canadian midget racer Alvin 'Spike' Rhiandro. Rather than racing it, he used the car to tow other race cars to races all over Great Britain. Over the following 60 years, the car passed through three more owners. In 2009 the SS100 was returned to its original Bob Truett-styled specification. Its current owner has since won numerous concurs awards in Europe and North America.
