1967 Austin Mini Countryman Navigation
• Introduced in 1959 as the first mass-produced front wheel drive car with transverse engine. Engine and transmission share the same oil.
• Suspension has no metal springs. It compresses rubber cones, which take less room than springs. These cars would out handle many sports cars in their day.
• Radiator at 'front' end of engine allows car to be shorter than other front-wheel drive. Fan blows air in reverse (i.e. through the radiator and out the left front-wheel well.)
• CV joints outboard ones are normal, inboards have 2 yokes with a rubber '+' between them.
• Sliding windows give more elbowroom inside.
• Small tires also allow for more interior room.
• External door hinges and extrnal spot weld on body seams save costs
• Fuse box has only 2 fuses for engine car.
