1958 DeSoto Firedome Navigation
DeSoto was directly above Dodge in the Chrysler Corporation hierarchy and just a small step below the Chrysler brand. For 1957, DeSoto (and the other Chrysler products) received a radical jet-plane-inspired restyle: Towering fins were the focal point of an Exner design, with competitors scrambling to catch up. Changes for 1958 were minor as DeSoto reprised its lineup of economical Firesweep, midrange Firedome, premium Fireflite, and limited-production
Adventurer.
This DeSoto finished in Spruce Green and Willow Green, is one of only 519 Firedome convertibles produced in 1958. It is powered by a 295 horsepower 361 cubic-inch V8 and equipped with 'Constant-Control' power steering, 'Total Contact' power brakes, and the rare 'Electro-Touch' radio.
