2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Navigation
Aventador, a name that became famous in fall of 1993, not because of news leaked from Sant'Agata about an upcoming model, but from the world of Spanish bullfighting. On that particular day in October at the Arena Zaragoza, a bull bred by the family of Don Celestino Cuardi Vides fought with extreme bravery, thus earning the 'Trofeo de la Pena La Madronera' in its place in history. It was from this history that Lamborghini chose the name of the Murcielago replacement to represent the Lamborghini fighting spirit in the new flagship model.
It can be seen from the styling of this car that many lines of the Lamborghini Reventon have been borrowed, but the feel of the Murcielago still carries through.
In replacing the Murcielago, something very special was needed and blistering acceleration would certainly do the trick. With a sub-three second sprint to 62 mph as a key deliverable, an all-new V12 engine was developed. This is only the second time a ground-up V12 engine design has been developed since the 3.5L V12 was created for the Muira. The numbers on this motor are quite impressive with the 6.5L powertrain delivering a staggering 709 horsepower on tap at 8250 RPM. This is delivered to all 4 wheels through a single-clutch 7 speed transmission achieving a 0-62 mph time of 2.9 seconds. With those performance numbers, Aventador has positioned itself firmly in Lamborghini history.
