1948 MG TC Navigation
MG was successful in racing for two decades, prior to the outbreak of World War II. During War time, production shifted to bomber parts. By 1945, the firm was back in business producing pre-war designs. The new TC was immediately popular despite its rudimentary design, which included a flexible ladder-type chassis and a solid-axle suspension system. Power was simple and effective, fed by a 1250 cubic-centimeter, cast iron, four-cylinder unit that enabled a top speed of nearly 80 mph.
This example wears an older restoration. The car was used sparingly before being put up on jacks. Recently, it has emerged from long-term storage. A new battery has been installed, the gas tank cleaned, and the car was lightly serviced.
The car is painted in a factory-correct Clipper Blue with a Vellum Tan interior and top, and there are side curtains. It is likely an early 1948 production TC, as evidenced by the wood dash panel and the firewall painted in grey/green.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2014
