1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Coupe

The Ford Mach 1 version of the Mustang was introduced for the 1969 model year. It had aggressive styling, a Sports Roof fastback styling, NASCAR-style hood pins, and a deck lid and chin spoilers. They came equipped with a new 351 cubic-inch, 250-horsepower V8 engine. With the help of the four-barrel carburetor, horsepower was rated at 290.

In 1970, the Cleveland engine was improved even further with the addition of canted-valve cylinder heads, larger intake and exhaust ports, and a block and rods designed for durability. The suspension on the Mach 1 was also improved with the addition of a rear stabilizer bar.

This example has been treated to a 14-month, total nut-and-bolt restoration in 2010 and has been driven just 500 miles since that time. During the restoration, the car was stripped to bare metal and re-sprayed a factory-correct Wimbledon White with black tape stripes. It was given new old stock front fenders which were used to eliminate dents and prevent the use of fillers. There is a four-speed manual transmission, AM radio, and Magnum 500 wheels with BF Goodrich raised white letter radial tires.

The current owner is currently the third owner from new and has always remained in the State of Connecticut. The original owner drove it for 10 years and then put it into storage. The second owner commissioned the restoration to original specification. At that time, the two-barrel carburetor was upgraded to a four-barrel unit.
