1997 Saleen Mustang Convertible

This 1997 Ford Saleen Mustang Convertible is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine fitted with a turbocharger and mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. There are anti-lock brakes, Mach 460 premium AM/FM/CD stereo, Saleen chrome wheels, a rear spoiler, and a Speedster cover. It is finished in red with a saddle interior.

The Saleen marque is not a tuner, but rather a small-volume manufacturer.

In the mid-1990s, Saleen introduced the Saleen S-281 which was named based on the Cubic Inch Displacement (CID) of the engine. The 'S' represented Saleen while the 281 was in reference to the engine displacement size.

Production of the S-281 continued from 1996 through 2009 and was produced in several variations. The S-281SC was a supercharged model, the 2-281C was a variation of the SVT Cobra first introduction in 1996, and the S-281E was the Supercharged Extreme Model (supplied Saleen engine). The H-281DG model was the Supercharged Heritage Dan Gurney Model and the Racecraft 420-S was the lighter and sportier version of the S281 with minimal modifications, also known as the S-281SC Sport.

In 1998, Saleen introduced the SA-15 - the 15th Anniversary Production Model and in 2003 they introduced the SA-20, the 20th Anniversary Production Model.

The S351 model used Ford's 351-cubic-inch (5.8-liter) overhead valve V8 to create their Saleen Mustang S351. After their modifications and improvements, the engine offered nearly 500 horsepower and an equally impressive amount of torque.
