1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Series Series 55 Sport Coupe

The 1964 Chevy Malibu models were part of the Chevelle lineup and were distinguished by having full-length strip of metal along the lower beltline. The Chevelle was divided into two basic lines of the Chevelle 300 and the Chevelle Malibu. Malibu models also had rear fender script and an insert at the rear. Cars equipped with the Super Sport option had no lower belt trim; instead, there was a molding running along the entire portion of the upper body ridge and continued along the rear fender edge. A popular feature of the Chevelle Malibu Super Sport were bucket seats.

The Chevelle Malibu consisted of a sedan, convertible, 6- and 8-passenger station wagon, and a sport coupe. For 1964, Chevrolet produced approximately 62,100 six-cylinder Malibu's, 86,900 Malibu's with V8 power, and 67,100 Malibu SS models. The base six-cylinder V6 engine displaced 230 cubic-inches and offered 155 horsepower. A 283 cubic-inch V8 offered 200 horsepower while the 327 CID delivered 300 horsepower.

This particular Chevrolet Malibu SS has a correct 327 CID with 300 horsepower and a correct 2-speed automatic transmission. It has been given a nut-and-bolt restoration and has a new interior with factory option cloth inserts on seats. There are front disc brakes.
