1956 Imperial Crown Imperial Series C70 Navigation
In 1955, Chrysler's top-of-the-line Imperial model became its own separate, top-of-the-line marque, and giving the appropriate name of Crown Imperial. Body styles included a sedan or limousines resting on a new 149.5-inch wheelbase. They wore the new 'Million Dollar Look' styling that was differentiated from other Chryslers by their new egg-crate grille and 'gun-sight' taillights.
For 1955, a total of 45 eight-passenger sedans were produced, along with 127 limousines. The following year, 51 and 175 units (respectively) were built. After 1956, production was sent overseas, to Italian coachbuilder Ghia.
This particular eight-passenger limousine was formerly part of the Milhous Collection in Florida. It is finished in black with a grey leather and cloth passenger compartment era. The chauffeur's seat is black leather with a matching carpet. The car has power windows, rare Airtemp air conditioning, and an AM radio. There are power brakes, power steering, and a Powerflite automatic transmission. Power is from a Hemi overhead valve V-8 displacing 354 cubic inches and offering 280 horsepower. The car rides on Kelsey-Hayes chrome wire wheels and 8.20x15 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewalls.By Daniel Vaughan | Jan 2015
