1938 American Bantam Series 60 Navigation
Production of the American Bantam commenced in 1937 and by 1940, the company was offering 11 body styles. 6,513 Bantams were built before production came to a close in 1941.
This particular Bantam Roadster is one of 971 produced in total and one of 512 built for 1938. It has early styling cues, including inboard headlamps and a hinged lift-up hood. The current caretaker acquired the car in 2011 who treated the car to a frame-off restoration that was completed in May of f2014. It has a new Haartz cloth convertible top and a new set of side-curtains.
The car is powered by an L-head, four-cylinder engine fitted with a single-barrel Updraft carburetor and producing 20 horsepower. There is a three-speed manual transmission and four-wheel mechanical drum brakes.By Daniel Vaughan | Feb 2015
