This particular example is a Javelin Alabama State Trooper Car built as a tribute to one of history's rarest and most storied police cars, marking the first pony car ever utilized by a major police agency.
Of the 42 401 CI AMC Javelins purpose-built for the Alabama State Police, only 2 are restored and known to exist. One resides at Talladega Speedway Museum and the other at the Alabama State Police Museum. These special-built cars had a reported top speed of 158 MPH.
This car was the one used on the History Channel documentary. It is powered by a 401 cubic-inch V8 engine offering 335 horsepower. There is a Chrysler 727 3-speed automatic transmission, 'Machine' 5-slot Mag wheels, Goodyear Polyglas Raised-White-Lettered Tires, Fleet Service Brake and Suspension Components, Full AMX 'Rally' Gauge Package, Tachometer and 140-mph Speedometer, AMX Trunk-Mounted, Rear Spoiler, Alabama State Trooper Badge Package, Blue-over–Silver Paint Package, Two-Way Radio, Blue Rotating Emergency Light, Two-Way Radio Antenna, Siren, and Wig-Wag Headlights.By Daniel Vaughan | Feb 2015
