When the TR4 was introduced in 1961, it signaled the transition from a rugged sports car to something altogether more refined. The new bodyshell, wearing a design by Giovanni Michelotti, was modern and clean. Mechanical changes included a rack-and-pinion steering setup, widened front and rear track, and an all-synchromesh gearbox. The standard engine was a 2138cc four-cylinder overhead-valve unit first offered on the TR3A.
This particular example is a TR4A that was bought new by Tim Ruvo. When Tim passed away, the TR4A was willed to his friend, Ardon 'Ardie' Overby. Currently, the car is largely original and unrestored. It is finished in Signal Red over black upholstery and rides on Minilite-type wheels.By Daniel Vaughan | Feb 2015
