1963 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible

This 1963 Pontiac Bonneville was customized by Nudie Cohn, the 'Rodeo Tailor to the Stars.' Nudie transformed 18 automobiles during his career, most being white Pontiac convertibles. The car was donated by General Motors for the attention they would garner. The guns are actual Colt and Remington firearms that fortunately have been disabled. Over 200 silver dollars are mounted on the seats and brake pedal, many of them Morgan Dollars. Dusty Rogers claims Roy used to drive and hunt from the Bonneville around his ranch. In fact, a 12-gauage shotgun shell was left in the trunk. In 1963, the auto was displayed in Nudie's tailor shop in North Hollywood. He produced lavish costumes for celebrities including Johnny Cash, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and Elvis Presley. When these stars would visit the showroom, Nudie would ask them to sign the boot covering the convertible top. These signatures and many more are still evident 60 years later. In 1964, Nudie sold the car to Roy Rogers for $4,000. This California black plate vehicle is still titled and registered to Roy Rogers.
