In 1969 and 1970 the Porsche Racing Department built 12 914/6 GT cars for the factory entered races. Three prototype and test cars, 2 Targa Florio practice cars, three Marathon de la Route cars, 3 Monte Carlo rally cars and one RAC rally car. This car was built in November 1970 for the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally. There were three factory 'Werks' cars entered in the rally and this car was entered for Porsche driver Gerard Larrousse and his navigator J-C Parramond. After the rally, this car was taken to Sicily for reconnaissance of the Targa FLorio event and assigned to Vic Elford for his practice. Vic drove the car from Stuttgart to Monza where he was competing in the 1000 km race in a 917 and then he continued on to the Targa Florio event.
