    1928 Stutz Blackhawk Streamliner Navigation
This car is a recreation of the famous Frank Lockhart 1928 Stutz Blackhawk Streamliner that set a land speed record at Daytona Beach. Frank Lockhart was killed in the car during a record attempt.

Lockhart had a brilliant - albeit short - career with many races on dirt, board tracks, and the 1926 Indianapolis 500. During his career, he had nine AAA wins and two vice-championships in two years of competition. During his early career, he raced Frontenac-prepared Fords at board track racing events. He later signed as a relief driver for Peter Kreis's eight-cylinder supercharged Miller at the 1926 Indianapolis 500. During warm-up laps, he was able to clock faster times than Kreis, and he set a new unofficial track record on his first official qualifying lap.

The Stutz Blackhawk Streamliner was given two supercharged 91 cubic-inch DOHC Miller motors and carried the car to a speed of 203.45 mph. The engine put them in the 122-183 cubic-inch class at Daytona Beach. The car's name, the Black Hawk Special streamliner, was named for the Indiana town that was home to the Stutz factory. On Lockhart's return pass, the Black Hawk Special blew a tire causing the car to crash out of control. Lockhart was thrown from the vehicle and killed instantly.
