    1955 Meteor SR-1 Navigation
Dick Jones and partner Jim Byers started, in the summer of 1953, designing and building their first sports car - a Meteor SR-1. 'SR' stood for 'Sports Roadsters', and this first car debuted at the November 1953 Petersen Motorama in Los Angeles, California. Their company, Meteor Sports Cars, offered for sale complete cars, bodies and even a miniature car called the 'Meteorite.' In 1955, Dick Jones bought out Byers' interest and later that year, moved his family from Compton, California, to Denver, Colorado. Unable to move the company and his family simultaneously, he asked his brother Larry Jones to take over operations in his absence. Larry relocated the company from Compton to San Clemente and continued to build cars and bodies. In late 1955 the company was relocated to Denver, where Dick Jones was living. During their operations, two factory cars were built, and approximately 30 bodies were sold. This car is the only remaining factory car built by Larry Jones in 1955.
