1929 Chrysler Imperial Series 80L Convertible

This 1929 Chrysler Imperial Roadster has coachwork by Locke and is powered by a 309 cubic-inch side-valve six-cylinder engine capable of producing 100 horsepower. There is a three-speed manual gearbox and its elegant body rests gently on a 136-inch wheelbase. This unique body features a side entry rumble seat with a folding upper panel that, when raised, becomes a windshield for the rumble seat passengers.

This example was offered for sale at the 2007 RM Auctions at Meadow Brook Hall where it was estimated to sell for $90,000 - $120,000. The car has an older, ground-up restoration which is still in good condition. It has dual side-mounted spare tires, wire wheels, a rear-mounted trunk rack, and side curtains. It is finished in red with burgundy accents and attractive whitewall tires. At the auction, bidding reached $75,000 but was not enough to satisfy the reserve. The vehicle was left unsold.
