The 3490cc SOHC V12 engine develops 320 horsepower and is capable of 174 miles-per-hour.

The list of celebrity racers who have driven this 290MM include 5-time World Championship Juan Fangio, Peter Collins, Le Mans winner Oliver Gendebien, Hans Herrmann, Fon Portago, Count Wolfgang von Trips, Jacques Swaters, World Champion and Le Mans winner Phil Hill and Sir Stirling Moss.

Late in the 1957 season Sir Stirling Moss raced this Ferrari twice at Nassau Speed Week. He won both the 100-mile Nassau Trophy and the 250-mile Governor's Trophy in his first drive in a V12 Ferrari sports/racing car.

The car is currently wearing its number from the 1957 Sebring 12 Hours as raced by Phil Hill and Wolfgang von Trips.
