1970 Chevrolet Nova Coupe

Don Yenko learned the Chevrolet truck and car industry in the 1950s from his father, a successful man in the industry. Knowing how to manipulate the almost unknown factory Central Office Production Order (COPO) program, he first ordered some special 1965 Corvairs, named them Yenko Stingers, and went road racing. His name later appeared on the Camaro, Chevelle and Nova by creating some of the most potent rides of the late 1960s. In 1970, the Clean Air Act of 1970 changed the direction of Yenko's creations. This new national legislation, combined with escalating car insurance woes, made Don Yenko counter with the 1970 LT1 Z/28 350-powered Yenko Deuce Nova. It was a COPO and advertised as a 'mini muscle car.' Supposedly, they were under the performance car insurance premium radar.


This Chevy Nova Yenko Deuce Coupe is one of 175 examples built and one of 25 with a silver, Code 14 exterior. Power is from a Z/28 Camaro LT1 Corvette 350 engine mated to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. There is a 12-bolt differential with a 4.10:1 posi-traction, and a F41 sport suspension. It has an order date of 8-27 and a site date of 9-3. The originating dealer was Yenko Chevrolet in Canonsburg, PA. It was then transferred to Central Motors in Hamilton, OH. This car has been re-bodied.
