Bizzarrini S.p.A. was an Italian automotive manufacturer founded by former Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and ISO engineer, Giotto Bizzarrini, who was dedicated to racecar design and building.

In 1966 Bizzarrini released the Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada, built for the European market. At least three 5300s were turned out as Style Italia-designed spyder/targa versions. This is the closest you can get to a racecar that is street-legal.

This particular car was the first production model built by Stile Italia, a coachbuilder in Torino in cooperation with another coachbuilder, Sibona e Bassano. It was made specifically for the American market. It features a flexible roof that can be a Coupe, Targa, or Roadster. The car has been in Michigan with the same owners since 1969. It is one of two 'production' Spyders built in 1968. The Spyder was designed for the California market and built for the business partner of a senior member of the current owner's family (who resided in Michigan, not California). It was purchased by the current family in 1969, the same year they purchased the prototype.

A Chevrolet 350 CID 420 horsepower V8 powers the car through a 2.88 rear axle. Intake is 4 x Weber 45DCOE carburetors. There is a special cam, and the engine has had head and port work including high-strength connecting rods. It has an aluminum body built on a new and improved tubular space frame that allowed more legroom that the prototype. This Spyder sits atop a newly designed tubular chassis, fitted with a Bizzarrini-designed independent rear suspension and Koni shocks. Other unique attributes of this car are the multi-functional roof, an interior with bucket seats, a center glove box, a sliding rear window, and a side draft magnesium manifold with four Weber carburetors topping the 420 horsepower 427 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8. Magnesium was used for several components including the 10-quart oil pan and the disc brakes.
