Series 24 V8 Convertible
In 1967 the muscle car wars, and particularly the Pony Car wars, were really heating up. Playing 'catch-up,' Chevrolet knew they had to go a step further to get a piece of the youth market, hungry for exciting cars like the Mustang introduced in mid-1964. After selling literally millions of Mustangs, Ford had an incredible and somewhat unexpected lead.

When the all-new Chevrolet Camaro was introduced in 1967, they rolled out a diversified lineup with a long list of options. Looking to cover all the bases, the Camaro was offered as a low cost six-cylinder base coupe, or loaded with power and trim options, including high output small and big block engines.

Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) racing was popular among younger potential customers, and Chevrolet pulled out all the stops to make sure they stopped Ford in their tracks. A new high winding 302 cubic-inch engine would be introduced, meeting SCCA rules as an exclusive engine for the Z/28 model. With a long list of suspension enhancements, a 4-speed manual transmission and eye catching dual wide stripes adorning the hood and decklid, the Z/28 was easily recognized as something special. Surprisingly, they would have no distinctive badging for the 1967 model year.

This full restored car is an early Z/28 example and is one of just 602 total built. A mere 54 left the factory in Butternut Yellow.
