1930 Buick Series 60 Navigation
This 1930 Buick Series 69 Seven-Passenger Phaeton was offered for sale at the 2007 RM Auctions held at Meadow Brook where it was estimated to sell for $65,000-$85,000. It has an older restoration but is still in good condition. It has a two-tone paint scheme with maroon and silver highlighted by red accents. The interior is finished in maroon leather and there is a folding jump seat and maroon wool carpets.
This car has many features such as the chrome twin Pilot Rays, dual side-mounted spare tires, trunk rack with trunk, radiator stone guard, dual horns and mirrors, wind wings, hood ornament, clock, and six wire wheels with chrome spokes. There is a boot cover to enclose the folded top and a full set of side curtains. The car has been given a 12-volt battery system to ensure that it starts quickly, this was not a feature of the time but was added later to make the car more reliable.
During the 1920s Buick established itself as one of General Motor's more popular products. As the decade came to a close, the Buick's began increasing in size. In 1930 Buick introduced a slimmer line of Buicks now offered in three series consisting of the Series 40, 50, and top-of-the-line Series 60.
At the auction, the car was sold for $72,600.By Daniel Vaughan | Aug 2007
