1964 Jaguar XKE E-Type Roadster

The Malcolm Sayer-designed Jaguar E-Type was revealed for the first time at the 1961 Geneva Auto Show. Replacing the ageing Jaguar XK150 this stunning new car featured a semi-monocoque body that utilized ingenious bolt-on front subframe to support the engine and independent front torsion-bar suspension. The bolt-in rear independent suspension unit, fitted with inboard disc brakes, has become a highly sought-after modular assembly often used by hot rod and custom car builders.

The curvaceous E-Type was a success from day one. Co-designer Malcolm Sayer had no interest in making the car beautiful. He was more interested in aerodynamics and applying his theories toward a functional design. Ironically, the E-Type was not terribly aerodynamically efficient, but it is without que, one of the most iconic sports cars ever built. Enzo Ferrari, who hardly ever complemented anyone or anything, called it 'the most beautiful car ever made.'

This early 1964 Jaguar E-Type OTS was originally delivered to Paul Crouch in Toronto, Canada, and has remained an Ontario car ever since. Extensively and successfully auto-crossed for a number of years by Nelson Burkhardt, the car was previously 'restored' by the inmates of the Guelph Correctional Centre.

In 2013, it underwent an open-book, no-expense-spared restoration to undo the sins of the previous 'restoration' returning the car to a Concours level with its matching numbers 3.8 liter engine and gearbox.
