2014 Ferrari LaFerrari Coupe

The range-topping supercars offered by Ferrari from time to time have, and will likely always be, a prized collectible to be cherished and owned by only a select few. Starting with the iconic 250 GTO in 1962, Ferrari then went on to produce the 250LM, but it took another 22 years before the 288 GT was created. From there, the F40, F50, Enzo, and now 53 years since that first supercar: LaFerrari. Notable about the car is that it was not styled by Ferrari go-to-coachbuilder, Pininfarina, and instead LaFerrari was designed in-house by Flavio Manzoni due to some technical and aerodynamic advantages over Pininfarina's proposal.

LaFerrari means 'The Ferrari' in Italian, but in reality, it means 'The Definitive Ferrari,' which is a very bold statement. Designed to not only be stunning in appearance, it also achieves unprecedented performance with some of the most technologically advanced features ever offered.

Possibly the reason why these advantages weighed heavily on the decision making in Maranello is that it is the company's first hybrid vehicle. The LaFerrari is powered by a 6.3 liter V12 engine producing 789 bhp as well as 161 hp KERS powerplant (KERS - Kinetic Energy Recovery System) derived from Formula 1 racing. Its connection to F1 continues with the design of its carbon fiber monocoque which was designed by F1 technical director Rory Byrne. All of this comes together to produce face-tearing performance. Sprints from 0-60 mph take less than 3 seconds and it continues to accelerate to top speed of 217 mph.

With performance and style like this, it is no wonder why they named it after themselves. Just 499 Laferraris were produced and each is custom fit to the owner.
