1955 Ford Station Wagon Country Squire

In the mid-fifties, the American dream included a house in the suburbs and a new station wagon. Ford's top-drawer, the Country Squire was the perfect accessory for this status-conscious suburban living. Its primary distinction was the simulated paneling on the body sides that recalled the genuine wood-bodied wagons of an earlier era. The attractive rework of the Ford line for 1955 resulted in an especially attractive Country Squire. Frugal buyers were invited to rough it with a comparatively bland Ranch Wagon or Country Sedan.

This featured Country Squire is finished in Colonial White, and is a rarely seen example of this once common car. Purchased in 1955 by a California cattle rancher, it was retired and put into dry storage in the 1970s. It was treated to a no-expense-spared restoration, around 2005, by the grandson of the original owner.
