1955 Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Coupe

This one-off Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS was first presented by designer Gian Paolo Boano, son of Boano's founder Felice Mario Boano, at the 1955 Turin Motor Show. It is similar to the Boano-bodied Alfa 6C 3000 CM of Argentinian president Juan Peron. Less than 2000 Alfa Romeo 1900 coupes were built, and they were bodied by different Italian Carrozzerie, including Touring, Bertone, Farina, Ghia, Zagato, and Boano. One of the most impressive features of this car is the two-piece rear window. Originally the car was finished in a two-tone paint scheme of yellow with a black roof, but this was changed in period to Alfa red. The original interior with black leather seats and yellow piping remains as a reminder of the original finish. For many years this unique coupe was part of the private collection of Mario Righini near Bologna in Italy. The car returned to Pebble Beach in 2017 after having been freshly restored in its original color scheme.
