1954 Arnolt-Bristol Bolide Roadster

This 1954 Arnolt-Bristol Bolide Deluxe was owned, until very recently, by the same amateur race driver since 1956. He raced this little Bristol engined roadster from 1956 to 1963 but when no longer competitive he parked it in his garage where it was recently discovered exactly as it was when last driven on the track. Stanley Harold 'Wacky' Arnolt sold around 140 Bristol engined race cars based on a shortened Bristol 404 chassis. The car has a 96-inch wheelbase and a hand-formed steel body designed by Franco Scaglione. The chassis and engines were built at Bristol's factory at Filton in the UK and shipped to Italy for Bertone to fit the bodywork before final assembly and paint and upholstery were carried out at Arnolt's premises in Warsaw, Indiana. Now restored to its early racing livery, this is possibly one of the most complete and original examples of this little-known racing car.
