1947 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Navigation
Black with red pin striping, and red rims - Phaeton - four wheels - double windshield Alfa Romeo resumed car production in 1946 using the race proven, pre-war 6C 2500 chassis and with a variety of new body styles. These were the last of the separate-chassis Alfas and most of these bespoke, hand-built cars were bodied as Superleggera coupes by Touring while the remained received cabriolet coachwork by Pinin Farina.
This example was built on the 2nd of April 1947 and sent to Pinin Farina who made this 4-seat Sport Cabriolet. The Sport Cabriolet was really the first post-war Italian grand tourer and it was sold in large numbers and helped Alfa to regain its pre-war status as one of the world's great marques. It was delivered to its first owner in Brussels in June 1948 and has lived in Europe its entire life. The car was dispatched from Alfa Romeo on June 10th of 1948, and delivered to its first owner by Alfa Romeo's Belgian agent, Franz Gouvion, base din Brussels. Mr. Carre of Liege, the car's first owner, retained the car for three decades, until it passed to its second owner, also in Belgium. In 2007, the current owner brought the car to Germany and approximately two years later began a restoration that would take until 2014 to complete. It is finished in dark blue with a red leather interior.
The car has been shown at the 2014 Classic Days Schloss Dyck in Germany and the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
