1951 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Navigation
Alfa Romeo introduced the 6C 2500 in 1937 with an enlarged 2300 engine mounted on three different chassis lengths. Only 66 Super Sport short chassis models were built before the beginning of the war. Another 383 cars were built from 1947 to 1951 with minor engineering refinements and coachwork built by Touring and Pinin Farina. By the mid-1950s, Alfa Romeo had shifted its production from expensive, coachbuilt cars to more affordable mass-produced vehicles.
This is the last Pinin Farina-bodied Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Cabriolet ever built, and one of the last three 6C 2500 SS models. It was delivered at the end of 1961 to a British airman stationed in Hamburg. He brought it to the United States, where it was stored in the proverbial barn for many years until it was returned to the road by Harold Johnson of Houston in 1998. Its current owner purchased it in 2009, and after driving the Alfa in the Mille Miglia in 2010, it was completely restored in its original Burgundy color in Brescia, Italy. The interior was finished after it returned to America in 2014.
