The Barris Brothers customized this new Mercury for Ralph Testa and by the time they were finished, it was virtually a new car. Among the many changes, the windshield was chopped 4 inches, the dual exhaust featured rectangular tips routed through the rear bumper, a pair of 1949 Buick taillights were mounted and all the pan creases were welded solid. The car was also lowered by 5 inches front and 7 inches in the rear and it received a Coral Blue/Purple paint job, with 28 layers of lacquer. As a crowning touch, it was fitted with a white padded top. Not surprisingly, it won 1st in class at its first showing at the 1952 Oakland Roadster Show.
