This 1966 Porsche 911 S Rally Car was offered for sale at the 2007 Blackhawk Collection Exhibit held at the Pebble Beach Concours. It carried a price tag of $200,000.
This 911 S was bought new from the factory by Sten Axelson and raced in Swedish events and hillclimbs. It was then sold to Lars Elgen who modified the engine and raced it in the Swedish championship (finishing 2nd). It was a serious contender for the championship beating at times the factory cars with works drivers. He later sold it to Yngve Johansson who also raced the car in the Swedish championship and again finished the year in 2nd place. In 1968 the car was entered in the Nurburgring 1000 K by Axelson and driven by Johansson and Peter Gregg. The car finished 27th OA and 4th in 2000 cc class. The car was later driven by Johansson at European events including Spa, Hockenheim, and Nurburgring until 1970/71. The next few owners were Haldberg, Strandell, Fisken, Kieckebusch, who each used the car very little. It placed 4th in the 1998 Tour Auto.Source - Blackhawk Collection
