1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Coupe

This Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta is an early chassis number and the U.S.-specification prototype. It was the second Daytona imported into the United States (chassis number 13205 was the first). The factory completed the car on April 20, 1970, finished in Rosso Chiaro (20-R-190) over a Nero (VM 8500) leather interior. It was given Plexiglas-covered headlamps without the emissions or safety equipment fitted to later Daytonas sold new in the United States.

The car was delivered to Chinetti Motors on the East Coast, then to Bill Harrah's West Coast distributorship, Modern Classic Motors in Reno, Nevada. Harrah opted to keep the first Daytona that arrived at his dealership for himself. It is believed that Mr. Harrah used this Daytona as his personal car for a period of time. The car was later featured on the cover of Road & Track magazine in October of 1970.

After the car left Mr. Harrah's ownership, the car was retrofitted with the later flip-up headlamps. It is believed that the car remained on the West Coast for its entire life. In the early 1990s, the car was purchased by William H. Tilley, of Los Angeles, CA. Following Mr. Tilley's passing in November of 2012, the car was sold the following year to its current caretaker, who then treated the car to a full restoration to its original, as-delivered configuration. The later hidden headlamps were replaced with correct Plexiglas headlight coverings. It was refinished in its original color combination of Rosso Chiaro over a Nero leather interior.
