2015 Dodge Viper Navigation
During 1988 in a discussion between Chrysler President Bob Lutz and Tom Gale, head of Design, Mr. Lutz suggested that Chrysler should consider building a modern version of Shelby Cobra and creating a car that redefined the American supercar. From this conversion, the 1992 Viper was born.
Production of this car continued until 2010, except for the 2007 model year which was skipped as the next generation of the car was prepared. With the completion of the 2010 model year, it was still an open public speculation on whether the new Chrysler, now part of the Fiat Group, would continue with this American monster as it may be considered to be infringing on another of Fiat Group's companies, Ferrari.
However, Viper fans need not have worried as the SRT division was preparing the new Viper with more improvements than the most optimistic Viper fan could have anticipated. The massive 8.4-liter V10 engine produces 645 horsepower and an axle twisting 600 ft lbs of torque. (The most torque offered on a naturally aspired production car.) This provides an amazing 0-60 mph time of around 3 seconds.
