1950 Buick Series 70 Roadmaster Convertible

In 1949, Buick introduced their first new post-war design which included the introduction of the two-speed Dynaflow transmission. The top-of-the-line model for 1950 was the Roadmaster. They were distinguished by their large, bright, and 'toothy' grille that traversed below the car.

The Buick Roadmaster was a large and luxurious automobile available in several body styles and two wheelbase lengths. The 320.2 cubic-inch overhead valve V8 engine offered 152 horsepower and was mated to a Dynaflow transmission. The Roadmaster was offered in six body styles including a Riviera two-door hardtop, a 'woodie' station wagon, and a convertible. The Model 72 four-door body style was 4-inches longer in length and wheelbase. For those seeking more, Buick offered the Roadmaster Deluxe models. These came was more luxurious amenities including plusher interiors, hydraulic seat controls and hydraulic window lifts.

Buick produced approximately 3,000 Roadmaster Convertibles. This example is currently part of the Howard and Norma Weaver Collection and has seen very little use since a restoration was completed. It is finished in period-correct dark metallic blue with the interior upholstered in brown leather with matching door panels and carpets. There is a tan fabric Haartz convertible top and the power top mechanism has been restored to function correctly.
