1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Series Series 1600 HardTop Sport Coupe

The Chevy Bel Air Sport Coupe has double taillight lenses and the subtle crossed flags 409 badges on the front fenders. These signs indicate this is a very rare vehicle. Chevrolet produced two million vehicles in 1962, and 1.4 million of those were full-size models. Bel Airs retained the bubble top roofs of the 1961 models while the Impala coupes were given new sculpted roof styling which simulated a convertible roof. The optional 380 horsepower 409 CID V-8 inspired the words in the Beach Boys song, 'Gitty-up, Gitty-up, Gitty-up 409.' The 409 was the final development of the company's 348 CID V8 and was offered through the 1964 model year. This particular example has the 409-CID Turbo-Fire V8 engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. It has the radio delete and column-mounted tach. It is finished in Tuxedo Black over a red cloth bench seat and rides on blackwall tires on steel wheels with poverty caps. It is a former AACA 1st Prize winner and has been given a nut-and-bolt, concours quality restoration, down to the proper red oxide primer underbody.
