By the mid-1950s, Alfa Romeo had almost fully shifted its focus from expensive, low-production coachbuilt cars such as the 6C 2500 to more affordable mass-produced vehicles.

The 6C 2500 SS displayed here had been in the Detroit area since the 1950s, in the ownership of a single family, it was recently acquired by the present owners. The car has been driven very sparingly, so the current mileage of 19,000 km is believed to be original. Cosmetic restoration of the paint, wire wheels, top, and carpets was undertaken in the early 1990s, but the car retains a patina reflective of the care it has been given during its lifetime.
