1938 American Bantam Series 60 Navigation
The American Bantam, like the American Austin before it, was a small, economical, and 'adorable' little car. By the mid-1930s, however, were not qualities that impressed buyers. Thus, fewer than 7,000 were produced before production ended for good in 1941. In the final months of production, the company developed a small prototype military vehicle, with mass-production being handled by Ford. It would come to be known as the Jeep.
This American Bantam Roadster has a factory-inspired two-tone paint scheme, with red over white. It has a red interior with white-faced instrumentation. It has rear fender skirts over color-keyed wheels with chrome hubcaps and trim rings, wide whitewall tires, a tan removable top, dual mirrors, dual taillights, windshield 'wind wings,' and a stylish radiator ornament.
