1958 Fiat 600 Jolly Navigation
The chairman of Fiat, Gianni Agnelli, desired a new yacht tender. His designers and engineers came up with the 'Jolly de Plage,' or Joker of the Beach, and were offered to the public in limited numbers beginning in 1957. The Jolly was based on the standard Fiat 500 and given reinforced open bodywork with a surrey top, wicker seats, and no doors. It was built by Italian coachbuilder Ghia and given a price that was more than double the cost of a standard 500.
This Jolly is a rare model based upon the Fiat 600 and powered by a 28.5 horsepower, four-cylinder engine. It is believed that fewer than two-hundred 600 Jollies were produced, and less than half of those have survived.
This example was originally built for the Italian market. Since 1980, it has had just two Florida owners, with the current caretaker owning it for two decades. It was given a recent restoration, during which it was converted to American sealed beam headlights and a speedometer/odometer reading in miles. The odometer currently shows 21,531 milesBy Daniel Vaughan | Jan 2016
