The number of Ferrari 250 Series vehicles produced were nothing compared to the volume produced by Detroit, however it was the model which established the Italian Company as a 'volume' manufacturer. The Pininfarina designed 250GTE was introduced in 1959 and was a true 2+2 grand tourer. It offered performance, style, and creature comforts. The 250GTE was succeeded by the interim 330 America, which brought with it an enlarged 4-liter engine. This was followed by the 330GT 2+2 Series 1 in 1964. The 330GT received an update in 1965 when the Series II models arrived. Production ran until 1967, with 474 built.
This particular example is a Series II chassis that was delivered to its first owner in Italy in 1967. The second recorded owner was Nathaniel Stewart of Maryland in 1973. In 1989, ownership passed to Alan Tyler and that same year to Dr. Jeffrey Cohen. In 1993, it was purchased by Dean Pitcairn of Michigan, who sold it to Guy Dietrich in 2003. It would remained in Mr. Dietrich's care for the next eight years. During that time, it received specialist maintenance, sympathetic refurbishment which included a repaint in the original Grigio Fumo - metallic gray - and partial re-trim of the leather interior in the original blue shade.
