1963 Sunbeam Alpine Sport Roadster

The Sunbeam Alpine was in production from 1959 through 1968. The British sports car was aimed at the North American market and built on the Hillman Husky II floor pan and employed Sunbeam Rapier running gear, along with the same 1.5-liter, overhead-valve four-cylinder engine found in many of Rootes' other products. The engine in the Alpine had an alloy cylinder head and twin carburetors, producing nearly 80 horsepower. The Alpine was progressively improved through Series II - Series V, gaining an all-synchromesh gearbox in 1964 on the Series IV and a 1,725cc, five-bearing engine in 1965 on the Series V, which also marked the arrival of alternator electrics and an oil cooler, unusual standard features at that time.

This Sunbeam Alpine Convertible is a Series III model powered by a 1592cc engine with rebuilt twin Zenith carburetors. The engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. It has a recent re-paint in gold with a black interior.
