The Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 was a four-seater, sophisticated, stylish and tractable car that was introduced at the October 1972 Paris Auto Show. This was the successor to the 365 GT 2+2 which had ended production more than a year earlier. The 365 GT4 2+2 was also a replacement for the 365 GTC/4. The 365 GT4 2+2 had a longer and wider chassis than either of its predecessors, maintaining similar exterior dimensions while allowing more interior space.
Power was from a 268 CID four-cam V12 with six horizontal carburetors offering 320 horsepower. The engine was mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and power disc brakes were placed at all four corners. Other standard equipment included five-spoke Cromodora alloy wheels, air conditioning, and power steering. It wore a design by Pininfarina featuring angular lines and an airy greenhouse.
This particular example is one of 120 produced that year and one of 525 ultimate built. It was imported into San Francisco, California, in November 1985. Currently, it shows just 13,000 kilometers. In 2005, it was given a new clutch, new leather seats with velour inserts, new ANSA exhaust, Koni self-adjusting shocks, main and drivetrain seals, new Pirelli tires and refurbished alloy wheels with correct Rudge knock-off hubs. In 2015, it was professionally repainted and all stainless trim was polished.By Daniel Vaughan | Feb 2016
