1957 Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Coupe

In late 1955, Alfa Romeo updated its classic 1900 one last time, equipping the short-wheelbase 1900C platform with the 1,975 cubic centimeter engine from the discontinued TI and SS versions. Now badged the Super Sprint, the latest 1900 variant featured specialized examples of aluminum coachwork.

This Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint was manufactured on June 10, 1957, and was sold in Heidelberg, Germany, to its original owner. In 1971 the car was found in non-running condition in Connecticut. After a two-year restoration that included trips to Italy to secure parts, it competed in vintage racing events throughout the northeast for more than 10 years at tracks including Lime Rock, Bridgehampton, Pocono, and Bryar, as well as at Watkins Glen in conjunction with the Grand Prix. The car proved reliable and was a joy to drive. After many years of hard use, the car received a total restoration. Fortunately, the car was very original when purchased in 1971 except for missing bumpers which took four years to locate.
