1949 DeSoto Custom Series Navigation
The first all-new post-war automobiles from DeSoto appeared in 1949. In the front were a new, taller radiator shell and grille with shorter front and rear overhangs. Other new additions were taillights in small flares atop the rear fenders.
The only option DeSoto customers had for a convertible body style was on the Custom Series for 1949. They had chrome trim on the front fenders, more lavish interior fitments, and a Fluid-Drive semi-automatic transmission (with Tip Toe hydraulic shifting) as standard features. Just 3,385 examples of the convertible were built in 1949, and few exist in modern times.
This particular example is finished in Dawn Gray with a blue vinyl interior. There is a push-button AM radio and a dashboard clock. In the trunk is a full-size spare tire. Currently, it has 62,815 miles on the odometer.By Daniel Vaughan | Apr 2016
