1972 Jaguar XKE E-Type Convertible

Jaguar's first production V-12 was introduced to the market in 1971. The new 5.3-liter V-12 was the first mass-produced V-12 engine to come to market in over two decades and Jaguar's first new engine since the debut of the post-war XK120 in 1948. The new motor was offered in roadster and 2+2 configurations only, however the production engine did not fit into the two-seat E-Type coupe. Both the roadster and the 2+2 shared the same, longer 2667-millimeter wheelbase chassis of the former 2+2 body introduced in 1966. The front and rear track was widened to accommodate the larger and more powerful engine, which also required a longer hood and chassis with a bigger air intake and grille.

This Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Roadster is an early V-12 with small bumper overriders. The car was built on May 18th of 1972 and sold through Jaguar's New York distributor. It has had a recent mechanical and cosmetic restoration including a major tune-up. The body has been refinished in the original Light Blue, with a black top. The dark blue interior is original. This is a matching-numbers car with just 56,240 miles on the odometer, which are believed to be original. It has chrome wire wheels and is fitted with a factory British Leyland AM/FM radio. The 5343cc dual overhead came twelve-cylinder engine is fitted with four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Power-assisted disc brakes are located at all four corners.
